McDonald's is always that cheap comfort you turn to when you're craving something tasty but absolutly terrible for you. In Asia, particularly HK, you can order deep fried pies in the following asian flavours - taro, red bean, and peach! Yes, peach pie was always the 'norm'... but when I came to Canada, it suddenly disappeared and the only pies I had access to were apple and strawberry/blueberry. I have a strange aversion to berries so I've trained myelf to LOVE apple pie...but I digress.
Anyway, with the McD's in town slowly converting to include McCafe's, I'm starting to notice more 'special' flavours of pies and new drinks (chocolate coffee milkshake anyone?) Today, I finally got my hands on a HOT and freshly baked pie... how fresh? I waited precisely 11 minutes for one... yes! 11 minutes!
The verdict?... wait until the pie cools... otherwise, you get this strange overwhelming 'fake' peach flavour - much like the scent of peach jello powder. The flavour is much tamer as the pie cools.
You can't go wrong with peaches... so definitely grab one and try before the flavour disappears!!
